      Why we overeat

  • Too many options to choose at one meal.  Not having a bunch of different foods available makes eating a proper amount easier.

  • Eating out.

  • Dining in front of the TV or computer. It tempts you to chew food without noticing

  • Not drinking enough water. Our body cannot tell the difference between being hungry and being thirsty most of the times. Drinking a lot of water will help you stay full for longer and also boost your metabolism.

  • Bad mood and stress. This habit is more commonly known as “emotional eating”. Instead of using food as a medicine for your soul try talking to a friend or doing something relaxing and creative, instead.

  • Lacking in portion control. Use smaller plates or bawls in order to have less food in front of you. This will result in your leaving the table when you are actually full. Besides, we subconsciously feel obligated to finish the meal that is in front of us. Also, bear in mind that our bodies realize they are full almost 20 minutes after eating.

  • Skipping important meals or having too small meals. For example, if you have a ridiculously meager breakfast and starve yourself  until lunch, you are more likely to fail sticking to your plan.

Now that you know what the biggest challenges are, you can avoid them! It is your turn to create a strategy not getting in such situations and eating the right food in the proper amount to reach your goals!
